Re: Opus of a Machine- Stray Fire

The heavier riff in the first track is cool. It is on quite on the soft side other than that on these 2 tracks. I like the first track ok, but was a bit meh on the light one. Will take another listen at some point.

Love reading your list every year. We do have many in common, and many I don’t even know. Will gradually go through everything as I can.

Re: Conception back with classic line-up!

Just a few points. 1. I do think this is on the mellow side (mellower than Flow overall imo), but I'm still loving it! 2. Totally love the Japanese mode Tore uses on The Moment. Very cool and unique song for them. Great stuff! 3. The title track owns! Totally in love with this song! 4. Feather Moves...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

Just thought I'd mention Leprous is just as popular with the hipsters and maybe even moreso than Haken :-) That would ruin my previous statements, so that’s not an acceptable comment. After seeing the show last night, this was my experience as well. Some quick thoughts on the show. Some song spoile...

Re: I'm stuck in a 3-way decision for disc of the year......

I think it will come down to Kingcrow and Haken for me. After seeing Haken just kill it last night, I give Vector the edge right now. Love Kingcrow too though.

Redemption and Seventh Wonder, would be the next in line I think.

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

Hate is a strong word - he isn’t horrible, just weak. That’s why I’m glad I bought the version of Vector with the bonus disc. Nah, but if I can find a way to blame anything on the hipsters or Haken I’ll be happy to do so. Cool deal on getting the instrumental versions. I hear on the hipsters. Lol Y...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

Haken with death vocals would be preferable to the chick they have fronting them now... lol Yeah as far as where Leprous has gone stylistically I don’t disagree - I don’t foresee them going backwards ... and why would they? The market is obviously larger for the style they are playing now than the ...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

How Haken has managed to crossover into that mainstream hipster crowd is beyond me - good for them. That wasn’t my point at all .. however, my point is that this tour, from Leprous point of view should be all about gaining as many new fans from that particular audience as possible, and it would mak...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

You’re correct that the set is very much geared towards the Malina and Congregation albums, but that’s also where most of their “casual” fan base is, so it would make little sense on a tour like this (which caters to the college crowd) to play a Coal/Bilateral/TPS heavy set - they can do that on th...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

I see this Monday night. Looking at Leprous set list is a big disappointment. They were quite good at PP the only time I’ve seen them live, but more than half this set is from Malina, Thats weak sauce. A song from Coal and nothing too heavy. Meh Hope the Malina stuff comes off better live. Haken ha...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

I absolutely love Haken. And one of the main reasons is the voice of Ross Jennings. Everyone has an opinion on what kind of vocalist would best suit an individual band, for me I just love the smooth delivery of his voice and something about it makes me want more. I don’t listen to the instrumental ...

Re: Evanescence - Synthesis Live CD / DVD ......

This tour came through the hot south as well. It was a outdoor show in a less than ideal location during the summer. I didn’t make it.

If the DVD is that good, the Blu-ray should be that much better. If done right that is. I may grab the blu if this is the case.

Re: Larry - Evership II???

This one is more of a grower than the debut for me as well. I think partly because the opener on the ST Silver Light captivated me right from the opening notes. The opener on II is ok at best. Kinda meh for me upon early listens. Track 2 and the epic at the end are great! The others are a little hit...
