Speaking of Poets.... If prog fans heard this song without knowing who it was or any preconceived notions, I'd bet my left nut that many would welcome it with open arms as an amazing unknown prog band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMt5ZEmyfsA I believe I watched every official Poets video recent...

For those that haven’t heard much Mystery, or think this one is too sugar coated, try Veil Of Winters Face. I think it’s their overall best.

Re: Haken - New Record (Vector) This Year

Sounds like a mix of the last 2 records to these ears. Very polished. Perhaps a little too commercial sounding. I do like the song, but wish they would have developed and extended the break more.

Can’t wait to hear the entire record in context.

Hearing the PT and also got a Rush vibe at times with those open chords. Singer is very good indeed. There was a third track on the YouTube channel. Had some female vocals. Pretty laid back and melodic.

Re: MICHAEL ROMEO - War Of The Worlds Pt. 1

My feelings as well, though I can’t help feel Russ should have been singing this. For sure, but I'm almost glad he isn't...... I prefer the cleaner vocals to allowing "angry Russ" to take over. Only thing I really miss on this album is Michael Pinella. There are several parts where I can ...

Re: Ayreon 'Into The Electric Castle’ 20th Anniversary

I gotta agree it feels like a money grab. Why not just release a bare bones CD version, and a CD/DVD version without the added fillers? Saying that, I would love to add the sculpture to the man cave. Don’t think I’ll bite though. Glass half full... As Glenn mentioned, at least the vinyls will be mor...

For me, it is Mystery and I like the record. It’s not so much that it is a somewhat lighter record overall, they have done lighter stuff on every record, but it feels a bit sappy soft sometimes. If that makes sense? The vocals add to this feeling I believe. I’m still digesting, but I don’t see this ...

Ayreon 'Into The Electric Castle’ 20th Anniversary

I can’t find this online so copy/paste from the mailing list. For this 20th anniversary edition, Arjen re-mixed the audio to 21st century standards. He made it clear that it's a 'remix', not a 'remaster', saying "Remastering takes 2 hours, this remix took me 2 months!". The 20th Anniversar...

I've digitized my copy of In Absentia, and it's vastly superior to any official digital versions that I've found. I don't recall a download card in the vinyl packaging for a digital version of the more dynamic remaster, so I guess it's vinyl only. But since so many people in these forums are so ins...

Most remasters sound like ass, as they simply seem to add more compression to make everything sound "louder". Steven Wilson's recent remasters have thankfully gone in the other direction. The 2017/2018 remasters of In Absentia and Deadwing are vastly superior to the originals. This is unu...
