Re: Recent listens...

I've not checked out Widek yet mostly because I only have so much bandwidth for instrumental stuff and I've never thought to hit that one up when I was in that mood. Working in an actual office with someone against has kind of changed this math up, though. I can't really sing at work when there's s...

Daniel Cavanagh- Monochrome This is really good. Though like Anathema, while this is really beautiful, I expect it would a mood listen for me. I'm not going to lie, I did have a goosebump or 2 while listening. The Dark Element- The Dark Element Man this is so Nightwish, and so poppy. Too much syrup ...

A taste of the new Kingcrow - The Persistence

We are thrilled to announce that KINGCROW has joined GlassVille Music , house of great bands like Pain Of Salvation, Riverside, The Pineapple Thief Anekdoten and many more. We are also very happy to let you know we are going to play at the ProgPower USA festival next year. On the sad side of things ...

Re: The Contortionist - Clairvoyant

So we made this show, walked up to buy tickets and got 2 free someone had returned. Talk about perfect timing. :D The Contortionist are dead on live. Really not much not much more to say, other than I wish they would have played longer. Just a 35-40 minute set. This is one thing I hate about a 4 ban...

I'm not very familiar with this band, but this one is pretty interesting. A lot of atmosphere with those heavier moments kicking in. I know they are on tour right now with Between the Buried and Me. 4 bands on the bill, and I don't need to see Colors again, but it is a Saturday night in New Orleans...

I don't remember there being a non-iTunes version of this before, huzzah for new options. But yeah, this is such great stuff. I love hearing Victor outside of his usual context. I will relish the full album when it comes out. Yea, I love hearing musicians out of their usual element. Looks like this...

Just ran across this by accident, and was ready to throw down my cash! Not much info on this other than a recording is in the works. Victor Wooten on bass. https://youtu.be/_z-ZrQPfY5o Another link http://www.metalinjection.net/video/octavision-victor-wooten-premieres-its-debut-mindfuck-of-a-single

Why is Facebook a better option than this forum? It just seems messy and hard to find what I'm looking for there.

Is it just a convienence for people that prefer using Facebook to follow everything they are interested in?

POWER QUEST Straight power metal is generally not my thing. That said, some acts in that genre really impressed me this year. This was one of those that didn't really enthrall me much, although I quite enjoyed the Neverworld album and having Alessio Garavello show up for some of the songs was a big...

Re: Prog power so far.....

DT has been a bit meh for a long time, but IMO Haken isn't elite until they have an elite vocalist. Now, I'm not the sort of person who cares a lot about vocals in music relative to the instrumental performances, but I'm analyzing the question just from the perspective of "prog cult" pote...

The Portnoy extravaganza was partially ruined by the Haken singer. Should have let the guitarist sing, he was way better and much more soulful. But I've never liked the Haken singer's nasal style. Overall it was pretty good, but yah... it felt like a cover band, as there was little charisma from th...

This is really good stuff! The 2 songs that were released did not paint the complete picture. This gets quite proggy while still remaining heavy and melodic. The drummer is quite good too.
