I'm agreeing with you. They're marketing an EP as a full-length, when it clearly isn't, which is bullshit.

nothing about Born of Osiris tells you that until you realize that you have a 25 minute album on your hands ... ugh! Let's be real; it's an EP. EPs are fine, as long as they're labeled as such. I'm less likely to check it out, knowing it won't be as satisfying, but yes, we should always be aware of...

Re: Dream Theater - "Distance Over Time" Album Teaser

This second song is definitely better than the first. The solo section, in particular, is very nice. But it seems no matter what they do, they can't figure out how to make James sound good. Petrucci thinks himself a producer, but the records he's overseen for the band never actually *sound* great, v...

Regarding Neal Morse, I also find his singer/songwriter material to be just as interesting (if not sometimes better) than his prog stuff, but I was disappointed with "Life & Times". It was heartfelt, yes, but for me it lacked the usual sticky melodies that make Neal's music so engaging...

I think Ghost would beg to differ :) Interesting. The thought hadn't even occurred to me that Ghost could be included in that discussion. I can hear it in the first album, but after that I don't think there's anything retro/vintage about their sound. These last two, especially, sound completely mod...

42. Ghost - Prequelle On “Prequelle” the music has gotten another notch into the commercial direction, and the blatant early 70’s Blue Oyster Cult rip-offs that dominated the first few albums have been replaced by a more original song writing, that in my opinion leans more on the Steinman/Meat Loaf...

But I agree with Larry 100% that there is not much debate that they can go toe-to-toe with Dream Theater on any stage. Um... no one ever said they didn't have talent. Haken / Vector - I've never gotten the appeal of Haken. Something about them always comes off as if they're trying too hard, or they're playing something that isn't them. I don't care much for Leprous either, but they have a much more formulated identity. Haken is just sort of.... there, and they d...
