The new song sounds cool. I noticed the new album in my inbox the other day and was excited to see you guys back. I'll be sure to get to it early!

Most of these probably won't be of interest to anyone here, but sure, I'll post my top albums so far: Harem Scarem - United (Melodic bliss) Soen - Lykaia (So Opeth it hurts... in a good way) Rise Against - Wolves (Punk-ish rock I can enjoy) Creeper - Eternity, In Your Arms (Meat Loaf punk) Orden Oga...

Re: Glynn Morgan returns to THRESHOLD!

Like with the first song, my opinion is that this is a Threshold song that sounds like every other Threshold song. I can't imagine sitting through two entire discs of this stuff, even though it's good. Way too much of the same thing. And that guitar tone is horrible. There's so much gain the muted n...

I didn't care at all for the last album. They had a few too many djent-isms for my taste. This isn't far from that, but I like the melodic sense a lot more. This one's pretty good, and now I might check out the album when it comes out. I was planning to skip it before.

That new song is fine, and Glynn sounds good, but Threshold has really become bland lately. It's not just that they're playing the same sound, but the songs themselves are interchangeable. I can't get excited when I can hardly tell one song from the next.

As far as metal goes, especially of the proggy variety, this is absolutely my favorite of the year. It's better modern Opeth than Opeth.

If I was deep into prog metal, I would probably agree with you. I can't think of much in that mold that has caught my interest at all. However, I'm not the most metal of people anyway, so I've found plenty of stuff in other genres to enjoy. In fact, while there are more downright awful releases this...

I like very few of those, which is why I seldom refer to myself as a metal fan. I also will never get the love for all things Ozzy. I would rank "Heaven & Hell" much higher than they did, and I would find room somewhere on the list for Trouble's self-titled and Dan Swano's "Moonto...

It's solid. Diego is the best Dio clone out there.

Side note; it's probably just me, but I think "Master Of The Moon" is the most underrated Dio album. It's slow, but really good. Goldy's my favorite of Dio's guitar players (solo band only, obviously).

I liked the first track, but this one's not nearly as good. It feels tired and completely by-the numbers. It's exactly why I worry about Frontiers having songwriters making far too many albums. They deplete their best ideas for projects that make one album and disappear.

I don't really get why everyone is so hot for Ronnie's voice, but he's ok, and the song is pretty darn good. They come out the same day, so I'm going to wager on this winding up being better than Jorn's new album.

Glynn Morgan has to re-record all vocals, otherwise it would make no sense... Frontiers has done a lot of good work with the melodic rock and metal world, keeping people's careers going when the other labels thought them past their time, and finding good new talent.
