Re: Animal Drive - an Ark Burn the Sun vibe going on

Love it! Great find!!! Jorn Lande soundalike for SURE!!!! It's got more of a straightforward rock approach than Ark did, but I can certainly hear a similarity in the chorus..... That's almost my exact impression. His Ark-era Jorn vocals are a crazy close match in a bunch of places (super strong in ...

Re: Angra - Omni (2/16/18) ...

The song is ok, but nothing more. Frankly, Fabio is so over-exposed at this point (he has another album coming out in January(?) too) that I can't be interested in hearing his name. I can't stand him. He only does one thing, and it's that pseudo-opera vibrato abusing crap. I wish they had picked al...

Re: It creeps me out that this is so awesome

The problem with so much of the fully synth music is that it gets incredibly samey. There's so little soul in it. MBR is fun for a time, though.

Yep, he's the real deal. A lot of his contemporaries are as well: Sithu Aye, Plini, David Maxim Micic, Jakub Zytecki, Aaron Marshall (Intervals). There's so much amazing instrumetal out there right now.

I kept seeing this labeled "rock" everywhere so I wasn't in a huge hurry to check it out. It seems to be much heavier than I was lead to believe, which raises my interest considerably. I like both of the linked vids so I guess I'll look into the album.

Re: Sons Of Apollo (Portnoy's New Band)

Got mine in today thanks to lightning Ken and co.

Just finished the 11:11 opening track and it was good. It's not as good as their ludicrous hype, but it is solid so far. This is in no way revolutionary...if anyone had those kinds of thoughts.

Hell yeah! I started spinning Kingcrow again late last week and was hooked for most of a week solid. At 0:34 is some of that trademark funkiness that I love so much.

Haven't seen much feedback on the new Anubis Gate once the full disc became available. Am I the only one NOT impressed? The last couple of songs were really good, but the rest of the album did not do anything for me on first listen. The first track had too much of a modern electronica sound to it, ...

This one's for those of us who like our metal with splashes of jazz (and almost every other influence) and aren't afraid of instrumental work. Courtesy of lmjh.

I was 3 minutes into the first track when I was already ready to buy.

Language was definitely the more immediate album for me as well. It was more energetic, which I liked. The Contortionist - Clairvoyant

I know that this band has been outside of the norm for this crowd, but this album should be right up quite a few of your alleys. Hugely emotive, technical, deep and layered, ambient, just beautiful and touching stuff while still showcasing lots of chops. Two excellent samples of the album (with vide...
