Re: Kansas live

I just saw them in Peoria, Illinois and thought they were great. Did the whole Leftoverture album and I really enjoyed it. Oh hell yeah. By miles that's my favorite Kansas album. I was leaning really strongly toward yes, but with a little encouragement I'm definitely sold. I think my dad's interest...

Kansas live

So I just saw that Kansas is playing in my city (holy shit, I don't have to go see Todd for a show!?). The only rub to this scenario is that it's the same night I get home from Houston after seeing Plini and David Maxim Micic. So my question is...are they still worth it live? I know it's not the cla...

I just read it off disk every time, lol. I've digitized all of mine long since.

One day I'll spin up a local db and do all that fancy jazz, though.

Re: A board experiment? Statistical engine for metal & prog music recs

I'm down! I've been thinking for a long time about making a local DB recommendation engine based on free form tagging (aka a tag cloud on a song by song basis). Buuuuttt it would've been just for me and I never felt hyper-motivated to get on it.

Re: new Redemption in the works?

Thanks for asking about Bernie's health. He is recuperating and living with his mother for the foreseeable future. He is getting better daily but it is a long recovery. He is doing much better than he was a year ago, but it was a very serious brain injury. Thanks for the answer. I'm glad to hear he...

I cannot wait for this one.

Honestly (and this is just plain SAD), I would probably say the new one with Floor is my LEAST favorite, and given how much I love Floor's vocals this is very surprising..... We've all harped on that disc enough that I won't revisit it, but suffice to say I want to hear an album where they let her ...

I stopped reading when they put Once as the best Nightwish album. Which would you rank? I'm not offended by the choice of Once as it's probably my favorite. Oh really? Tastes differ greatly, I suppose. I think it's between _Oceanborn_ & _Wishmaster_. Indeed they do...would be boring otherwise. ...

I feel bad for you guys who aren't finding goodies in the styles you like. I felt like a handful of the late 00s were quite weak and it was a real bummer. This year I'm still riding high, though. I'm sure it won't last forever, but here's to hoping.

I was very underwhelmed after one complete listen. It sounds very disjointed to me, doesn't flow at all well, too much Lee lead vocals, too much repetitiveness (lyrics and same melody) on some songs. Then the actual recording sounds like a different studio/producer on a few songs. Very disappointin...

That opening riff is not screwing around and I love it. This is a damned good tune. I'm quite looking forward to this one.

Random thought...the vocalist, in particular on this tune, reminds me of the guy from Digital Ruin (which I don't recall previously thinking).
