Re: Distorted Harmony - A Way Out

Thinking about it a little more there's a lot on this album that feels like nods to greater and lesser known tech and prog bands of the last 20 years or so. I hear a myriad of sections that feel immediately familiar...but in someone else's context. The aforementioned Nevermore on Room 11, pieces of ...

Re: Distorted Harmony - A Way Out

Have had the album for several days and a handful of playthroughs now...it's really good. They've got a fairly wide range of styles going on, and they're all well delivered. Room 11 has a kind of Dreaming Neon Black vibe to it with the haunting sliding vocal delivery that really makes me smile.

You don't like thrash? Do you like death metal? Black metal? Old stuff like Sepultura? Even Metallica? I'm curious... The only thrash I actually like is Megadeth. Some Sepultura, but not a ton (I really like Roots, though, which I know a lot of people don't). Death metal...sometimes...tech death mo...

Re: Haken / Leprous Co-Headlining NA Tour

Todd...take Monday off and make a long ass round trip to Atlanta!? That’s what I’m thinking. I wonder if Southport has a chance of squeezing them in on the open Monday date? They have a habit of doing just that. That'd be easier than going to Atlanta for sure, lol. But I'm down for either if you do...

Question: What will you do when Apple and Amazon stop offering downloads and move to a 100% streaming service? That's a good question. I hope it never happens, but who knows. The only thing I use streaming for (Spotify) is to check out new bands or releases, then if I like it I prefer to own it. I w...

Re: Now this is humbling - and cool - even if it is Dave Grohl.....

Grohl is actually a remarkable musician and by all accounts an incredibly humble and decent guy. Doesn’t surprise me at all that he would respond this way. He is a class guy all around — I am not a Nirvana fan but I do like the Foo Fighters and him personally. Does a ton of stuff with kids with I t...

I don't think there's been a single release this year that has done much for me. Certainly nothing that owns my soul like the last Distorted Harmony, which I'm currently spinning (I'm also not listening to *nearly* enough music which is almost entirely relegated to my working hours). Re: Widek - Dream Reflection

There are a couple of tunes on this disc that break the mold for him. "False Paradise" even without the extra version's surprise is a rather extreme-leaning song and a couple others have a proggy flair. Otherwise it's business mostly as usual but a great disc. Unsurprisingly that's my fav...
