That last single confirms that I have no use for the new Dream Theater at all. Oh well.

Re: 2018 top however many (I'm too lazy to count)

It's true, I'm guilty of loving djent quite a lot. There's something about the combination of heavy and wonky that it comes with that just tickles my brain to pieces. Give me all the skull-crushing polyrhythms, please! Hopefully you find something new you find worth buying! Thanks for taking the tim...

Re: 2018 - Top 50 Albums

Finally got around to checking some of these...I had somehow missed that Voices From the Fuselage released an album this year, and it sounds promising. Xenoverse I think was on the house music at the fest this year? Anyway, that's really good sounding too.

Also if Good Tiger would fire that vocal abomination they call a singer and get a real one I'd buy the shit out of their discs. But I personally feel like Coleman should never be allowed near a microphone ever again. Bah :) He is gold!!! He is one of the reasons I love Good Tiger. Interesting how w...

Between the Buried and Me - Automata A fantastic followup to Coma Ecliptic indeed. I love all the quirky pieces so much.
Haken - Vector My only quibble is the length, which could be a bit more substantial.

My thoughts exactly on these two.

I'm really excited to hear what both do next.

Distorted Harmony - A Way Out A very solid album through and through. Just good heavy prog. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKrrbwhdEsk Absolutely one of my disappointments of the year. A very interesting prog metal band decided to become a boring second rate djent band. I can definitely appreciate...

Here we go, my top...however many this is. Alphabetical until the EPs, which I separated just because. Youtube links are for my favorite track(s) or the ones I feel give the best overall representation of each album. They had a pledge campaign a few years ago for a DVD, but that's the last I knew of them. I'm hoping they come out with another soon. The only album of theirs I haven't liked was the last one, but maybe I should revisit it.

I felt this way about most of the tracks on the Being album vs the EP from a few years ago. The EP versions weren't so fiddled with and fussed over, and they were better for it.

I see a big difference here. Warkings is a serious attempt at jumping on the popularity of the masked/power metal genre. They are pushing it, touring, etc. I didn't care for it, but I don't think the label views this as a joke. Cash grab, sure. The other is just Christopher getting really drunk and...
