Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

Yeah, that lady fronting Bent Knee has an absolutely killer clear tone! She can really wail, and it sounds great. Very weird, but I think my brand of weird. I bought their most recent disc from their table to try out. Leprous was disappointing, tbh. I didn't expect that. They played more droning tun...

I'm pretty meh on The Congregation, but I love Malina so I have hopes for the set. Regardless they're stunning live so I'm not worried about being entertained.

Sounds like a logical follow up to flow. \m/ Isn't that frickin incredible!? Go away for ~20 years and come back like it's just next Tuesday. “Flow” was so far ahead of its time that coming back now with something similar (well, somewhat similar) doesn’t become a negative for Conception but instead...

It's kind of a shame I can't force Ticketmaster to eat the cost with one of those free vouchers from their class action lawsuit, but at least I could still get $4.50 off.

Also yay I have tickets.

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

Do you think some of the problem people see with Ross is his straight delivery? Because that's basically what he does: he hits notes straight, without any embellishment. It's almost like his voice is a sample played by pressing a key on a keyboard. It's very pure, and he never sounds like he's stru...

Re: New Riverside in September....

Think some of you might be underrating this album a touch. I don't think the loss of the second guitarist is really obvious. The more noticeable change for me is the diminished role for the keyboards. There's a more stripped-down, acoustic feel to large sections of this album, although _LFTM_ previ...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

As for the vocals, I'm with those who aren't thrilled with them. I think his tone is clean and pure, but also lacks power. My favorite singers tend to be dramatically powerful. They can sing melodically but with BIG BALLS. Like Dickinson, Dio, or Warrel Dane. But I really like how integrated the la...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

He doesn’t necessarily “annoy the shit out of me” as Sparky so eloquently put it, but Ross is one of those singers that clearly was a friend of someone in the band, just like that kid in kindergarten when they were all out of tambourines and the sole thing that was left to do was singing he was the...

never heard them before, sounds interesting. I'll check into them as this track is pretty nice.
