I'm going to have to try this band again ..... the weird thing is, this is something I should love, but any LS discs I've tried didn't do it for me. Maybe it's time I go back and try again ....... Same here with their previous ones...this one blew me away just with the song I posted above...it's mu...

Re: New Lunatic Soul

This is the best thing I've ever heard with the Lunatic Soul name on it. It's actually pushing towards Riverside territory in the wider use of rock instrumentation and beats (the title track could have been on Rapid Eye Movement, even the bass tone is the same), and the electronic influence is beau...

Re: PM: Continuum FB Group

Well, I'm going to have to go against the tide, as usual. I think it's about time PM had a FB place. The number of people I've seen post there who were part of the "golden age", and whom I have not seen post on either PM board is quite astounding. Lots of classic albums being brought to t...

Re: Prog power so far.....

Stunned silence? I don't know WHAT to think of this, honestly. Nick and Tom are both very dominant, very personal songwriters so I think this is a rare opportunity to combine two personalities like that. That being said..... I don't know from a raw chemistry perspective how that will work out long ...

DT has been a bit meh for a long time, but IMO Haken isn't elite until they have an elite vocalist. Now, I'm not the sort of person who cares a lot about vocals in music relative to the instrumental performances, but I'm analyzing the question just from the perspective of "prog cult" pote...

Re: Prog power so far.....

As far as I'm concerned, Dream Theater aside, these are the best damn prog players in the world right now. I'm not sure I'd put Dream Theater "aside"; Haken might well stand above them even now. ***I'm sure you would find many who would say this ..... but I'm not one of them at the moment...

Also very interested to hear more detailed thoughts on this year's show, and next year's lineup. Honestly, next year features more bands that I am not familiar with than any prior year. I know many of the names involved, but have never sampled most of the music. James LaBrie and Tarja are instant s...

Yes I'll admit it (then again I'm a huge fan....so) Amaranthe kicked all sorts of ass last night Loved Katatonia's set from what I heard...because they purposely seem to like to keep the lights dim and only use backnighting Pain was interestingly good Dynazty was fun albeit a bit brickwalled with th...

Re: The best album of the 10s candidate (2010-2019)

My favorite album of the decade isn't really up for debate. I'm too attached to one thing totally not right for around here to look fairly. In terms of prog and metal, though, I would say my picks would be between two; either Dream Theater's "A Dramatic Turn Of Events" or Transatlantic's ...

Re: Sons Of Apollo (Portnoy's New Band)

A few thoughts. 1. I agree - this sounds intriguing. Might not be some ground breaking mishmash of definitive prog - but then again it might. Hard to say yet. Calling it without hearing almost anything is akin to declaring you hate a movie from a 1 minute teaser/trailer. You just don't know what yo...
