Re: Death of CD's finally?...

***Gaetan - I don't look at it that way. Now, I'm speaking about discs like instrumentals that I normally don't listen to on a regular basis. It's strictly a mood thing. Therefore, for $7.99 - I can store it on my computer. Burn it onto a CD-R and take it in the car. Play the music on my phone thru...

Re: Death of CD's finally?...

And to be honest, I'd rather pay $7.99 for an instrumental download, than pay $15 for the actual disc, if you can find it ...... But the value of your download after purchase (this more a rental) is 0... For the CD, it's difficult to say how much but it certainly keep a certain value. After a perio...

Re: Death of CD's finally?...

Every articles I read about CD retailers (with a physical building) stopping selling CD or completely closing, they mention only streaming and digital download as the cause. They seem to forget that many people buy CDs online. Yes it's true that CD sales have declined but CD customers are not retard...

Bands releasing independent releases on CD-R without even knowing it...

It happened to me twice that I bought an independent release and that the band learned from me that their release is actually a CD-R...
Everything looks great... the booklet... the logo printed on the disc... etc... except that this is actually a CD-R...
Sad but true...

Anvil - "Pounding The Pavement" released today January 19th, 2018

I have received the CD today in the mail!

I haven't played it yet.

Sometimes I need a dose of Anvil to contrast with progressive music!

Re: I've just found an excellent obscure prog metal band of the 90s...

It's not prog metal - more of a prog rock style, but it's well done and worth being in a collection. Sometimes it's difficult the trace the line between prog rock and prog metal... The band is listed on https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Xerxes/833 So I guess it's not that far to prog metal if it...

I've just found an excellent obscure prog metal band of the 90s...

The band is called Xerxes from Switzerland. Albums: Beyond My Imagination (1993) Falling Leaves (1997) Falling Leaves is actually a promo CD for I guess a future official album that never saw the light of the day. Probably some people here already know them. Me, it's the first time I hear of them. I...

I now have their 2 CDs and I like this! I would say the first album is very good and the second is excellent but not as good as Mystery - Delusion Rain.
Some passages of the second album reminds me the album Sparrows by The Barstool Philosophers.

Re: Carisma / 1825 - revisited.

I agree that 1825 is their best but Larry you are a bit severe about the "In A Moonland" EP. To me, this is very good hard rock. It doesn't have the metal and the progressive touch of 1825 but I still like it very much. My car is a 2009 and it can read CD-RW disc of mp3. With a software, I...

To me, CG isn't a really heavy band but more of a melodic metal one with big prog influences. Doesn't mean it's not awesome though. :) It's true in general, but this particular song (Red Sharks) is more heavy than their other songs. But even this song is maybe not that heavy compare to these days h...
