Re: New Evergrey album

Looks like the bonus DVD with the documentary is only available in the very expensive and very massive artbook! I hate this!
I would have paid a decent extra price for this bonus DVD in a regular packaging!

Re: The great prog metal discs of this decade

2015 – Zierler “Esc” Finn Zierler is obviously best known as the guy behind Twilight (early 90's) and Beyond Twilight (early-mid 00's), but here he is with his latest solo project, which unfortunately has already called it in again ... A shame, as this was a truly brilliant, and very original HEAVY...

Re: The great prog metal discs of this decade

I like this thread because (a) when it comes to music most people overrate the present and don't hunt down greats from the past nearly as much as they should (the economist Tyler Cowen has written on this) Only about 10% of my 2018 music purchases are 2018 releases... But I have to say that I still...

Third Wave Mansion - First Hour: You may have to reconsider your best of 2018 list!

The band is from Quebec City! 17 years in the making! This is their first album! Inspired by old school progressive rock but with more punch and more electric guitar which is more common in neo-prog! I like it very much! Bandcamp: https://thirdwavemansion.bandcamp.com/releases A factory pressed CD h...

Voivod is a band that has put out a lot of individual good songs over the course of their career but never really put together a full album that I would count as a masterpiece. I do not agree. To me "Dimension Hatröss" is a masterpiece from start to finish. Kind of album you listen concen...

Ah, I see. If you have a strong taste for guitar solos, you'll rarely find that in 70s prog, to be sure. Yeah, I love great guitar solos... My favorite album of the 70s would not be necessarily prog.
