Re: Top 50 of 2017

Quick thoughts The Galneryus singer has a bit of an accent... If Id not watched the video but instead just listened I'd have sworn Vanish was Brainstorm/Symphorce. Thats good in most cases. I just ordered. I had heard a Damnations Day tune before this one and it kinda annoyed me with the vocal screa...

Re: Icefish - Human Hardware

Okay, I can firmly say this is my no.2 album for 2017. This is totally amazing. Initially I'd have said this is a mix of DT'S Awake and Amaranthe for the keys. Its far more than that. Yes, it cost me around 25 with shipping but damn this is stellar material. This is pure class and a total surprise. ...

Re: Icefish - Human Hardware

Sounds great but 25 dollars is a bit out of line. Ill wait till they figure out how to sell through amazon. Of course I say that now, I may still break down and buy but thats pricey for a debut based on two songs.

Re: Jono - “Life” - great vocalist

As a vocal snob and overall picky bastard I have to say the two songs I heard I wasnt impressed. Sure he has nice vibrato and dramatic delivery but thats it. Feels like he should be doing Rogers and Hammerstein stuff. Hes a decent enough vocalist, just not a good match to the music IMO.

Re: Where to start to see if I like the band Mystery?

I kust got around to Delusion Rain. Wow, this is fantastic. The Deyoung fanboy inside me always goes for vocalists with a similar style, and this is one of the better ones ive heard. Im really curious about the previous two now. I remember hearing beneath the veil and didnt care for it much. Now a d...

I bought a PP ticket!!

After 18 years or so I am finally making the trek to Atlanta. I'll finally get to meet up with you guys or most anyway. Thats at least half of why Im coming. Julie is coming down with me but she'll run around town with some local friends while I get my prog on.

Re: The best album of the 10s candidate (2010-2019)

For me, there are four candidates that stand head, shoulders, torso and crotch above the others. I may be leaving one or two out but these just resonate with me and im sure none will be a surprise.

Ascendia

Need - Orvam

Speaking to Stones - Elements

Fates Warning - Theories

I've had this for quite some time but never found the time to really absorb it. It's everything you described. I will take this in my car soon and just keep it on shuffle for a week or two. I know I didn't give it then time and attention it deserves. That'll change this week.

Re: Circus Maximus to release live Bluray .......

I'll give this it's due. I'm betting a lot of these tunes morph into something heavier and proggier in a live setting with live energy. I've watched their career since I got a demo CD from Truls to review way before the debut was released. I've seen and heard the shifts in sound and direction, mostl...

I saw them on saturday. It may have been the venue or it could be their requests but damn they were too loud. The mix was a wall of noise with the vocal mics being way too hot. Did not enjoy the set at all. And yes the setlist was very heavy on the new one but that's fine, I get it. My only reason f...
