Heard a third of that song and I ordered the disc. I could already tell its made for me. Reminds me of Empire21, and it may be the same singer. Sure looks like him.

Re: Old school prog metal haul

I'm off work tomorrow so I think I'll spin some of this. I've got like 15 or more albums I haven't yet gotten to.

BTW, Gods of Silence is pretty damn badass. Its basically the band Kirk witha diifferent vocalist and slightly heavier. Thats first in tomorrows rotation

Old school prog metal haul

A buddy recently bought an entire collection and was selling them off individually between 3 and 6 dollars. There were a bunch Id traded over the years and some I never had. Re: Youtube links of complete albums or songs

Almost all bands, labels and artists promote through youtube so theres no shortage of legit songs and albums. The rest that are not official are generally done from fans hoping to assist the bands spread the music. Sure, a couple are attempting to profit but overall its a fantastic tool that I use a...

Greg Analla from Seventhsign RIP

I dont normally post stuff like this, but this one just hit me harder. I truly love his work with Seventhsign and some of his other projects. Not sure what happened, some kind of accident. Its posted on his facebook page. He was a great teacher and historian of native American culture and a cool dud...

Re: My top 10 of 2017

Icefish is beyond great. Its difficult to accurately describe but think mixing Awake era DT with a little Vanden Plas and throw in some Amaranthe styled keys and youve got a basic idea. The two tunes on youtube arent the best songs on the album. And yet its my no.2 for the year. Gotta be something p...

Re: My top 10 of 2017

We have a mutual no.2 for the year at least. Im still waiting for the physical album to arrive. I haven't filled out a full top list as Im equally torn between our music here and my aor/melodic rock. Its hard to list and often hard to categorize. One Desire may crack my top list but I have a couple ...

Quick thoughts The Galneryus singer has a bit of an accent... If Id not watched the video but instead just listened I'd have sworn Vanish was Brainstorm/Symphorce. Thats good in most cases. I just ordered. I had heard a Damnations Day tune before this one and it kinda annoyed me with the vocal screa...

Re: Icefish - Human Hardware

Okay, I can firmly say this is my no.2 album for 2017. This is totally amazing. Initially I'd have said this is a mix of DT'S Awake and Amaranthe for the keys. Its far more than that. Yes, it cost me around 25 with shipping but damn this is stellar material. This is pure class and a total surprise. ...

Sounds great but 25 dollars is a bit out of line. Ill wait till they figure out how to sell through amazon. Of course I say that now, I may still break down and buy but thats pricey for a debut based on two songs.

As a vocal snob and overall picky bastard I have to say the two songs I heard I wasnt impressed. Sure he has nice vibrato and dramatic delivery but thats it. Feels like he should be doing Rogers and Hammerstein stuff. Hes a decent enough vocalist, just not a good match to the music IMO.

Ascendia

Need - Orvam

I'll give this it's due. I'm betting a lot of these tunes morph into something heavier and proggier in a live setting with live energy.
