Re: Circus Maximus to release live Bluray .......

I'll give this it's due. I'm betting a lot of these tunes morph into something heavier and proggier in a live setting with live energy. I've watched their career since I got a demo CD from Truls to review way before the debut was released. I've seen and heard the shifts in sound and direction, mostl...

Re: JD MILLER - World War X

If they had a different name I guarantee they'd have more hype and following. JD Miller sounds like a douche who takes up two parking spots with his Corsica or a door to door window salesman.

I just got this and it is very strong. It's like mixing Evergreys Hymns for the broken with some Last Tribe/Cloudscape and adding some modern pop touches. Good stuff!

Re: Evergrey last night...

I saw them on saturday. It may have been the venue or it could be their requests but damn they were too loud. The mix was a wall of noise with the vocal mics being way too hot. Did not enjoy the set at all. And yes the setlist was very heavy on the new one but that's fine, I get it. My only reason f...

I really don't have anything techy or even really insightful to add except an alternative. Maybe sell off a few or more. My criteria when I did this a while back was if I hadn't played it in five years and I have no interest in saying it today...outahere! The seagates are great, but it would be a fu...

This was strange. I heard the first part of the official video and thought meh, not bad. Then just now I listen to the album teaser vid and that sold me. So I'll grab this for sure.

Although I've been in and out for the last decade, I joined the original board in 1998 I believe, a random link from the Heady Metal site I clicked on. I hate that I still to his day have not met any of you in person, which is a source of regret. I hope to have provided a miniscule contribution over...

I'll totally sidestep the singer switch to say that, for whatever reason, the switch just flipped for me and I'm totally digging this band finally. I tried a few times over the years and decades but it took till this afternoon to really "feel" Threshold. My introduction was with Mac, and I...

I'd never heard the EP, just Ocean Mind. I found that album just a bit bland, maybe over produced? It never made me interested in anything else they'd done. So, should I check this out? ***Scott, the EP is totally different imo. First off, that EP was part of the prog metal movement on the Internet...

The opening was kinda shaky for me as I was listening for a discernable melody within the chaotic structure but the 2:00 mark kicked in and sold me. This is gonna be good!

Orvam was my album of the year in 2014, so I was really looking forward to this. My first spin didn't really impress me like I was expecting so I've had it in constant repeat in my car and yes, this is absolutely great, but not what I'd anticipated. Where Orvam is super high energy with some eclecti...

I'm terrible about keeping up with forthcoming albums, but after the new Need album I only have two gigantic 2017 releases I'm craving.

Iris Divine

Ascendia

There will be other awesome albums for sure but those two are personal for me and by far my most anticipated.

This has the guitarist from Teramaze. Pretty cool but the vox are a bit too course for me if it's like that through the entire album. I'm no thrash guy but I'll stick with Cyclone Temple all the way.

I've never had an Ayreon album, just thought it would be too high concept and not enough melodies. This sounded great and will be my first purchase from this group and Arjen. I'm not a fan of multiple singers on single tune but this may change my mind.

I always try to get a CD, but I understand with indie bands that isn't always a possibility, so no big deal. I sometimes purchase both. If I like the music enough after listening to the mp3's I'll grab the CD as well as a companion piece. The other issue anymore is the lack of CD booklets and having...
