Re: The Forgotten Heroes of Prog Metal Thread

Mind Key - I know I have that first one, but I'll be darned if I remember anything about it. Italian Dream Theater influenced, it certainly sounds like the sort of thing I would blind buy. Will have to pull this back out. (Edit: OK, I remember these guys now that I'm listening to it. Very well compo...

Re: MICHAEL ROMEO - War Of The Worlds Pt. 1

My feelings as well, though I can’t help feel Russ should have been singing this. For sure, but I'm almost glad he isn't...... I prefer the cleaner vocals to allowing "angry Russ" to take over. Only thing I really miss on this album is Michael Pinella. There are several parts where I can ...

I've been offline for pretty much ten days, so was thrilled to hear this thread was running and had 50+ responses!!! So many good bands already called out.... OK, so I was one of the ones who was a little concerned when I heard Tom was replacing Ray.... Not because I don't think Tom is more than capable (I LOVE Evergrey!) but simply because I was suspicious of trying to combine two of my favorites into one. And yet.... ....all I can say is that this disc ...

Re: Astronoid - Air

If you want to talk about a weak point in Astronoid's music, I'd say it's the vocals. At first I thought they were female, and I didn't mind them - but when I discovered they were male, I liked them less. It really shouldn't matter, and I know that, but somehow it does! To me, they are one of the m...

I really wanted to wait for the full release to listen to any of this, but with a full fledged video I could not resist. The guitar work, especially the dueling leads, is phenomenal. Tom sounds great, and I'll be very interested to see how he sounds on the older material. Ray is a tough act to follo...

They're back, they have a new EP due later this year I think, but Peika is no more the singer... Kimmo Blom (Urban Tale, Raskasta Joulua) is the new guy and he's good IMO, but no Peika... Good call on this one..... Haven't seen anything on Leverage in many moons now. Are they even still active?

Dino is also a great up-and-comer, and I suspect we'll be seeing him pop up in multiple outfits ala Ronnie pretty soon.

This disc is SUPERB. Only through disc one so far, but honestly.... You couldn't ask for a better track list than this offers up. Re: Fates Warning & Haken Live CDs / DVDs .....

Love the Haken. Video quality is not BAD. It's raw, but in a smaller club like this it works just fine. It's not like you're talking about a Dream Theater or TSO with a bunch of lights on a massive stage; you're talking about a small band in a (relatively) small theater. It's just fine. Honestly, if...

I didn't mean it was talking about Dokken without Lynch, just that the style and lyrics of the song are like Dokken classics, except the lyrics are kind of silly and ridiculous. Then it's sung in such a serious manner it just sounds like they're making fun of that whole old Dokken style. Ahhhhh! Ye...

Did a quick search but didn't see any discussion on this board about Millennial Reign. They just released their second album, and it's pretty damn good.
