Re: The Sea Within - Prog Rock Supergroup .....

Well, that whopping 20-30 clip doesn't sound like any Stolt I've heard. Sounds heavy, and rockingish actually. Stolt, Gildenlow, Minnemann, and Reingold? GTFO - I'm betting this is gonna be great. LOL...... You are right about that for sure. Interested to hear how this fits into the album as a whol...

Not a fan of the cover art though. Little too weird for my tastes.

Totally agree. I watched the concert once, but that song I’ve seen About 25 times. It’s maybe the best live performance Ever 8) Now THAT is a bold statement! Granted, I'm not prepared to argue against this, but still...... Gods know all of these performers are consummate professionals, and absolute...

Plenty of room for both of you on the front porch to yell at the kids on the lawn....

I'm sure I'll check this out, but pretty much everything Roine Stolt is in ends up sounding about the same. Nothing here to make me think this will be any different.

If not for the monster Ayreon release, this would be the live album of the year. Cannot wait for this one! Following the release of the bands much-acclaimed fourth studio album 'Affinity', they embarked upon their 10th anniversary tour across Europe & North America. Recorded and filmed on the 13...

I'm actually enjoying this disc .... is there anyone else out there who is doing the same ? Just curious........ Yeah, I enjoyed it for what it is. Another solid disc, but there's something slightly off with the recording..... Particularly with the vocals. DC Cooper normally sounds VERY clear and sharp, with every word understandable. That's not the case here. I don't think it's the way it's mixed; rather, it just sounds like it was not capture...

I am all in favor of ANYTHING that puts Tore Ostby back into action.... Be it Ark, be it Conception, be it a new project..... Khan would be a bonus, of course, but Tore is what I miss.

Agreed that this all seems VERY dubious, but how great would it be if true????

I didn't comment on Shaman either, but I agree that it's disappointing that it just sort of fizzled. There was a lot of promise there. I do quite enjoy Ed's solo albums though. Agreed on everything here. Even Andre's solo albums were very good, but it's been YEARS since he last did anything new. Al...

Matos is a garbage vocalist, and he's not what made early Angra special. I have literally no response to this. 1984 also has a claim on being a special year. You could argue that it was the year of the first full-length progressive metal album: most likely QR's _The Warning_. But Warlord's _And the Cannons of Destruction Have Begun..._ might have a claim to the title, as does Fates Warning's _NIght on Brock...

Personally, I am not a major audiophile so some of the issues others point out in a mix I really do not hear, or if I do it does not bother me to any major extent, so with albums like the aforementioned Aquarius or Visitor there is nothing in the original mix that makes me want to hear a "bette...

This is a good one. "Hall of the Mountain King" was released in 1987 and "Streets" in 1989. I changed the post title to include also other albums of 80s, not only 1988. Slight correction: "Gutter Ballet" was 1989, "Streets" was 1991. I still remember senior y...

FANTASTIC release for sure. The overall flow of the concert feels a little off for the first 30 minutes or so..... A little choppy, and the song sequences feel unnatural..... But then it all sort of comes together and builds into a monster. "Valley of the Queens" is worth the price alone.

While a fantastic album to be sure, I never thought this needed a remaster in the first place, so much like the Haken reissues I felt no need to order it up.

Immortal? was my first introduction to Arena, but "The Visitor" is without question the high water mark. Must own material here.

Anywho.... I'd like it a lot more if it was on CD instead of just digital. (Another sign of the "old fuck" syndrome.)
