Re: Happy Anniversary to us !!!! Well, sort of ......

We didn't go Load on everybody! I'd forgive Load. I won't forgive Lulu! Now, if you incorporate some Lalu, that would be ok...... As far as the delays..... How many bands have come and gone in the time since the first SW album? It would have been easy to call it a day, but you keep persevering and ...

Re: Happy Anniversary to us !!!! Well, sort of ......

Yeah, I'm mostly lurking, but I enjoy reading some of the lengthy review posts from ProgPower-fest and some releases etc, so I pop in from time to time to endulge! On the downside, it is taking forever, mostly due to one man's other endeavours.... On the upside, I seriously think it might be some o...

Re: THE FERRYMEN - The Ferrymen (Romero, Karlsson, Terrana)

That being said, that song was awesome and I'm really looking forward to this disc. The guitar sound is edgy and up front, love it! Romero is perfect as usual. There! I said it!! I'm with you. Great song, and I have very high expectations for both this and the new Jorn album. With both efforts, it'...

Re: Haken Fall 2017 US Tour Dates

Todd says they are not doing the Visions thing on that part of the tour, so it looks like Haken twice in a weeks for me !!-!!!!- Yeah, that part doesn't surprise me too much. I'd expect a pretty different set list for the rest of the tour. Give me a nice dose of a little of each album, and I'll be ...

So here is my problem...... They are coming to Boston Aug 27th...... Where in the hell is the Brighton Music Hall ??? I'll find it......but the real issue is that they play Visions the following week at PP and I'm psyched up for that....... Don't want to spoil the surprise if u know what I mean.......

Haken Fall 2017 US Tour Dates

Haken is currently releasing a bunch of US dates for a fall 10th anniversary tour..... I am BEYOND excited to see Columbus has a show on Aug 29!

Looks like lots of shows still being added, as I saw Detroit and Cleveland announced this morning.

VERY STOKED for this!!!

I did. I like them, and they are DEFINITELY different than the old stuff. Much more modern crunch, more aggressive..... Intriguing for sure.

Re: ARTHEMIS - Blood-Fury-Domination

I have two of their MUCH older CDs, and they were squarely in the generic Italian symphonic power metal scene. Pretty good stuff, but nothing remarkable. I know they went through some fairly major transitions after those two discs, and I was quite stunned to see them putting out new material still.

Don't even recall at this point how or when I stumbled in here, as it feels like this group has somehow been here forever now! Those early days were very much magical.... Disappointed, only from the standpoint that I wanted to hear this turned into an insane thrash song! Honestly, they did a REALLY good job staying true to the original.... It's funny, as my wife is a HUGE Supernatural (TV show) fan, and apparently this song gets all kinds of play on that show. Played...

Re: This Winter Machine - New Neo-Prog Outfit?

This is a disc that showcases significant potential not fully realized yet. The songwriting on here is right up my alley, with slow building songs that gradually build to a crescendo. The problem is that the way the album is mixed diminishes the crescendo to a mild swelling only. The guitars are pre...

Re: Edenbridge / The Great Momentum .......

I'm pleasantly surprised with this one..... The first half of the disc in particular is quite strong, with a little more chunk than they usually offer musically. The second half of the guitar solo in track two (Die Is Not Cast?) is particularly awesome..... The last three songs (of which two are the...

Dead Reckoning > did not care for this Don't listen to him. Larry is dead WRONG on this one. :) This one is a more simplistic approach than their other albums (with Subsurface being the most similar), but is the most melodically engaging of any of theirs. With Threshold, I don't think I could pick ...

I'll definitely check this out. Yeah I remember that stretch of time where prog bands were hesitant to put out full releases. Most of them did end up on full albums. Re: Pyramaze - Contingent (April 28, 2017)

Pyramaze is a band that, for me, has always been dominated by their vocalist. The first two albums were pure Lance King, then came a dose of Matt Barlow, and the last album reminded me strongly of Urban Breed era Tad Morose (a void which I LOVE seeing filled), but somehow it always feels like a diff...
