Re: Quick Thoughts on Some Recent Purchases

Here's some self promotion. I think the new Until Rain "Inure" is exciting and frankly I don't understand the lack of discussion about it. Perhaps there is too much music coming out too fast and everyone is developing musical ADD. Give a listen: https://lasersedge.bandcamp.com/album/inure...

Quick Thoughts on Some Recent Purchases

Since I was complaining about the lack of feedback on the new Ayreon, I figured it would be hypocritical if I didn't take some time to put together some thoughts on other recent stuff. So here goes! Labyrinth "Architecture of a God" - With the addition of Oleg Smirnoff and John MacAluso, I...

Re: New Ayreon video

Now that this disc has been out for a couple weeks, anyone have any thoughts on the full album? It's been pretty quiet around here on most of the new releases....

I have mine waiting to be opened still.... Hopefully this weekend as we have a road trip down to Tennessee.

OK, that was 100% NOT what I was expecting from that line-up...... Not entirely my cup of tea, but had to check it out based on the Toto comment, and you are definitely not wrong on that one.

Crazy stuff.

Scary movies are rarely, if ever, my cup of tea. I'll take a good Alien movie now and again, but that's about as far as it goes.

Re: Scary movies coming out in 2017 ?

The Dark Tower - based off the Steven King novel, it looked bad ass until they used the word "gun slinger" which is he who hunts the devil. Good series of books, but this is definitely not "scary" by any means. It's much more of a cross-over genre piece (sci-fi, western, action,...

Exactly, I have a 1TB and a 2TB and they are more than sufficient for photos and music, plus a backup for my work PC.

Re: Abydos - a retrospective appreciation

Abydos was a great disc for sure, and I thought it got a fair amount of love around these parts when it first came out. Personally, I would not stack it above the VP albums, but that's more because of how highly I think of VP rather than any knock on Abydos. Andy Kuntz absolutely SHINES on this disc...

Really? When was the last time Sinner was involved in something truly interesting? He's been making the same bland songs for ages now. He's the reason I'm worried about the album. Has he EVER been involved in something "truly interesting"? He writes good, solid 80's inspired hard rock / m...

New Jorn track is quite good, but lighter than the 2 Ferrymen songs. He'll surely have heavier stuff on the album.

Doesn't need to be HEAVIER, it needs to be CATCHIER. Again, it's not bad, it's just..... There. I expect more from that line-up.

It's not a bad disc, but it comes off as second rate Leprous rather than carrying on the PoS torch Daniel dropped after Remedy Lane. Leprous is extremely good at taking a song and slowly building, adding layers each time, to come to a glorious full-thoated climax (that sounds SO wrong as I type it.....

For whatever reason, and it's not for a lack of trying on my part, this is a band that has just never clicked with me. Re: ARTHEMIS - Blood-Fury-Domination

I have two of their MUCH older CDs, and they were squarely in the generic Italian symphonic power metal scene. Pretty good stuff, but nothing remarkable. I know they went through some fairly major transitions after those two discs, and I was quite stunned to see them putting out new material still.
