Re: Power Metal

I don't listen to too much power metal anymore. I still like some of the top shelf stuff that I've listened to for a long time like Helloween, but not too much newer stuff. I'm listening to more prog, death, black and tech metal lately.

Re: Can someone point me to the other perpetual motion forum?

I know what you mean about going through tough times. I tried to commit suicide twice over the last 12 years(I guess I'm just not good at it) ended up in the hospital both times. Maybe one day I'll succeed, but I still credit metal for keeping me alive this long...............I feel like metal is t...

Re: Cynic: Refocused...it's awful!

If I had to pick a record that affected me on the deepest level it would have to be Cynic's Focus. It brought a level of experimentation, creativity and imagination to metal that was unheard of at the time. The artistic content was stunning...yet I always knew the album stood at the threshold of gr...

When I went digital I put them all in CD storage crates and they occupy far too much space in my basement. Just couldn't get rid of them yet.

Re: What happened to the some of the older board posters?

Dusty, I'm still around just don't come here as often as I used to. I've been going through a music burnout for a few years now, so I haven't been passionate about learning about new bands. I still listen to what I have and pick up releases from bands I like, but that's about it. Usually when burnou...

Hand Of Sorrow by Within Temptation <-> ROTE

Ok, I just love it when two of my worlds intersect. In addition to music, I've always enjoyed reading. I've recently been reading Robin Hobb's Realm Of The Elderling books starting with Assassin's Apprentice. I'm currently 9 books into this 16 book series and have really enjoyed them. It's been a lo...

Re: Bands You Loved When You Were Younger But Can't Stand Anymore?

Not sure if anyone has any bands to add to this list. But I use to LOVE King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, but now I just can't stand King's vocals...I think he has amazing talent by the way, but his falsetto just grates on my nerves and I can't deal with it anymore. It just annoys me LOL...I use to b...

Back in the day, I used to frequent the Usenet Internet newgroups using the engineering Unix machines at work...when I was supposed to be working. Re: Let's have a little chat...

Thanks for stepping up and posting this Mardoch. What I like most about this board is that for the most part it's drama free. It's our own little oasis on the internet. Sure we disagree every now and then and even get in arguments, but we're mostly civil to each other here. Not trying to pick sides ...

I guess I'll just have to wait and hear it to decide what I think about this. If they include it all in the same version of the album, I don't mind the extras. But expecting us to buy different versions of the songs is a bit much. With that said, I've always wished a band would release an album that...

Re: Pagan's Mind and Shadow Gallery?

There has been nothing official about SG as far as I know. At one point someone was talking about them being done on Facebook and one of the members, Gary I think, replied that they are NOT done yet. My guess is that Gary's house and recording studio burning down has a lot to do with the long delay....

I'm definitely getting cabin fever......we get out now and then, to the usual suspect stores, but not having an entertainment is starting to get to me. What's worse, is that South Carolina went from being a very low spot for the virus, to now being claimed as a hot spot given the growth data..........

I suspect the problem may be that it's not a Blu-Ray.

Yes, exactly. It's just a CD/audio instead of a DVD/BluRay/video.

Yep, this sucks. Focus is in my opinion one of the best disks ever released by any band. I'm still excited about this disk every time I listen to it to this day. Way too young to leave us. I'm so glad I did get to see Cynic once.

To say this hit me hard is a massive understatement. The public didn't know about this, so it took us all by surprise. Some stuff I liked in 2019

I've been struggling for a while to figure out what to do about my top list for 2019. Overall, it was a pretty unremarkable year in music for me. There was very little that I was super excited about. Few of my top bands released new disks and I didn't discover a new exciting genre to explore. I stil...
