[*] Deafheaven, _Ordinary Corrupt Human Love_ “Hipster” black metal band continues to progress & impress. What makes them “black metal for people who don’t like black metal” is their frequent use of major keys and generally “uplifting” affect. Plus, for American listeners, there’s a Pacific-coa...

10. Between The Buried And Me / Automata Splitting this into 2 records by the label is just a total money grab. This is not the bands fault, and I won't penalize them for it. With that out of the way... Some background, I couldn’t even listen to this band until Coma Ecliptic. It just so happens I h...

Awesome list, and well thought out ....... as you get further and further into prog rock land, and away from metal, it's great to see the metal taking the top 2 spots..... LIsten to Obscura and then tell me I don't listen to metal anymore. :D I still listen to a lot of metal, I'm just expanding my ...

Looks like we have 3 in common this year. Not too bad. I hadn't heard the Michael Romeo until right at the end of the year. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do. I was considering pushing it into the top 10, but in the end didn't. I need to give that Arena some attention here soon. Your list d...

Digital Man's Top 10 Of 2018

Re: Conception back with classic line-up!

A similar thing happened to me with the new Kingcrow. I bought it as a part of a pre-order like a year and a half before it was released. The purpose of the early pre-order was to help them fund the recording. Well my copy of the CD didn't arrive until almost a month after the release date. Everyone...

I was just looking at this on Amazon yesterday. They do have a listing for a Blu-Ray only edition, but it says its only for Playback Region B/2 and won't play on North American players. Guess the Blu-Ray / 2 -CD edition is the only option since at least it says All Regions.

It's a shame they are skipping Colorado again on this tour. Fates skipped us on previous legs as well. Would love to see Fates again and Toddsrych would be nice too. Not the biggest Queensrych fan, but would be cool to see Todd sing those classics. I suppose I could drive to Albuquerque, NM but that...

Re: Haken - Vector - my track-by-track review

I want to like this band so bad. I've tried for a long time, but the vocals are like nails on a chalkboard to me. Similar situation with Leprous, for some reason the vocals just don't work for me. As Todd said, vocals are very polarizing and very personal. I can't explain why I like Geddy Lee & ...

You can ask Larry, Todd & Troy about my reaction to the Day 3 & 4 lineup. They said that was the most excited they had ever seen me about a lineup, and I think they are correct. For me, the Day 3 & 4 lineup is probably the strongest ever. What was unique about it was that I knew and like...

I was thinking the keep in "keep of dreaming" could be a noun referring to a castle, as in "the innermost and strongest structure or central tower of a medieval castle". That could be a pretty cool image. I like that better!

Re: Best place to buy digital music?

One disappointment I just noticed about iTunes and Amazon is that their MP3s are only at around 256kbps. I honestly doubt I could hear the difference, but I always rip at 320bps. I did find 7digital (https://us.7digital.com/) where you can get 320kbps or FLAC. Google Play has 320kbps MP3s. The next ...
